This week I learned about the Middle passage. The middle passage also known as the Triangular trade is the journey that the enslaved Africans endured after they were kidnapped from their native land.
A large percentage of Africans could not survive the brutal environment and pestilence found on the slave ships. Many chose to jump overboard, preferring death to living a life in shackles. This only fueled the slave masters greed and inhumanity.
Soon after the rebellion of the Africans, slavemasters purchased insurance policies and tossed Africans overboard into the Atlantic ocean. This practice of sacrificing human lives became common in the journey from Africa to the Americas However this was only the beginning of the African Holocaust.

Should MYspace be banned in school.
I personally dont have a "MYspace" account but I think in general that "Myspace" should be banned in school. In many ways "MYspace" is an addiction.I can see from a third persons perspective in that I dont have an account and dont see what the big deal is about having a couple hundred pictures of people that you have never met.I do think that some people can complete their classroom assignments and still use "MYspace". However , the same could be said about drug addictions and alcohol. Some people can use drugs yet still lead a productive life anhd the same could be said about those who drink.
I still would not say its okay to use drugs at your place of employment or period , for that matter. This all comes down to the said persons ability to contain himself and unfortunately I dont think that most people have that selfcontrol.

The "little" things I am grateful for.
The things that I am gratefull for may seem simple but I feel that I am thankful for having these things in my life .
One thing that many people take for granted that I am thankful for is simply the fact that I am myself.I am thankful for this because I am a unique indivual and no one can take that from me.
Another thing that I am thankful for is that I am American,I am grateful for this because
Alot of countries in this world are in much worse of state than America.People from other countries risk their life just to be in this country of which its inhabitans take for granted many of the rights givin to us since birth.
I may not have it all in this world, but for all I do have I feel grateful for them.

I am 21 years old...
I am 21 years old...
1) Today I am 21 years old I can vote I can...
At age 21 I will, accordingly if my plan goes right, be completing my last year of college.Specifically I plan to at first go to community college then transfer to temple university or Penn state to get a degree in art.
2) Discuss your education history...
Firstly,I will have completed high school after which I will already have earned an associates degree. Finally I will one year away from recieving my bachelors degree.
3) Discuss where you live...
I will most likely be living on campus or renting an apartment in a close vicinity of the college of my choice.
4)Discuss the work you do.Your job etc...
The work I do will be doing will be working as a
penciller, working as an assistant finishing off the rudementary scetches my employer laid out, drawing concept art and or drawing story boards.

Two places I would want to visit.
If I had to choose two places I would like to visit I would have to say Egypt and Timbuktu. I would choose these two because I am very interested in eastern civilization.I have always wanted to go to African countries.
I would choose Egypt as one country because it is the first advanced civilization in the world. The Egyptians heavily influenced the Greeks Romans and Arabs.the Egyptians were so advanced in mathematics that even to this day it is not known how the pyramids were built.
For Timbuktu's ,another African nation that had an advanced civilization I would choose this place because Timbuktu had the largest library in the world at one point and was a center for great academic achievements.
I mainly chose these two African countries to visit because living in a western civilization and euro centric society,I often learned far more about Greek and roman achievements than African kingdoms.I was usually left with cryptic and minute details about African civilization. The largest source of information about African culture generally involved slaveryand practically inferred that African history started from the point of enslavement.I therefore would like to visit these places to learn where African culture started from.

The gamble of not having a high school degree.
- The consequences of dropping out of high school nowadays are especially severe. One of the most common jobs for high school dropouts,McDonald's,is said to be considering employees to require a high school degree.
It is hard to understand the relationship between a formal education and flipping burgers but if these are signs of change then the future looks as bleak as the bowels of a pit.Several of my teachers even admit that having
a college degree is like having a high school degree 20 years ago.The importance of the high school degree has depreciated to the point where it is comparable to having the education of a high school dropout in the 80's.This leaves the dropout with a future of much hardship to look forward to.With the middle class
on the verge of being non existent and value of a college degree decreasing. One would say not having a high school diploma is comparable to an ex cons' record. The consequences of not having this sheet of paper
that says you have completed your education isn't something most people with reasonable sense would want to experience.

The meaning of names.
Philadelphia,"the city of brotherly love."After a skyrocketing boost in murder rates and the population of homeless rising. It is easy to knitpick about the meaning of the cities name and why it should be changed.
I myself think that the meaning of Philadelphia contradicts the current
state of this historical city. This does not mean that I believe the name should be changed.Names, since ancient times have had underlying meanings. For example "Jerusalem" means land of peace, this place has
had many conflicts in the past but its'name shouldnt be changed because of this.In fact,it isnt anything new for someone to have a name that contradicts the actions they do.I myself have one such name which has
a meaning that conflicts with my character."Sedrick".My name is of
Celtic origin and means "war God".Now,I do not think myself to be
a diety or a spirit of chaos, however,I would not change the name
my mother gave me even though I know its meaning.
If Philidelphia and its meaning conflict with its living condition, the question isnt "should we change the name",it should be "how can we change the living condition".It is that simple.instead of being pessimistic,
we should be figuring out a way to solve the problems of this city.
